Baggage
Your free baggage allowance depends on the route you are flying and your class of service. Please check the allowance for your route before you travel — it is not the same everywhere on our network.
Free baggage allowance — international
Allowances on international routes are issued under the piece concept: what counts is the number of pieces and the weight of each, not a single combined total.

Some promotional and temporary fares carry a reduced allowance of 1 piece up to 25 kg including hand baggage. The allowance attached to your ticket is shown at the time of booking and takes precedence over this table.
Free baggage allowance — domestic
20 kg including hand baggage. The number of pieces is not limited, but a single piece must not exceed 32 kg or measure more than 100 × 50 × 50 cm. Anything above the allowance is charged in full.
Hand baggage
Personal items — a briefcase, laptop bag or handbag — weighing up to 5 kg and measuring no more than 50 × 40 × 20 cm may be taken into the cabin. This weight counts towards your free baggage allowance.
You may also carry one Duty Free bag weighing up to 3 kg and measuring no more than 40 × 30 × 15 cm.
Excess baggage charges
Charges are set per additional piece and differ by direction of travel.

Excess baggage is paid at the airport ticket office or at an airline office. You will be given a baggage receipt, which you must present at check-in in order to be issued a boarding pass.
Oversized baggage
A piece measuring more than 50 × 50 × 100 cm is charged an additional fee whatever it weighs. After weighing and registration, an airport employee records the details and directs you to the cash desk or to an airline representative for payment.
For sports equipment, musical instruments or anything unusually shaped or fragile, please contact us before you travel so that we can confirm how it will be carried.
What you may not carry
Items that could endanger the aircraft, the people on board or property must not be placed in your baggage:
- Firearms and cold weapons of all types
- Explosives and articles filled with explosives, fireworks and blasting charges
- Compressed and condensed gases
- Flammable liquids
- Flammable solid substances
- Poisons and poisonous substances

Prohibited in cabin baggage
Under Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, Attachment 4-C, the following may not be taken into the cabin:
- Guns, firearms and devices that discharge projectiles — including toy guns and replicas, air and CO2 guns, component parts of firearms, crossbows, signal and starter pistols, harpoon guns, slingshots and catapults
- Stunning devices — stun guns and batons, tear gas, tasers, disabling or incapacitating sprays including animal repellent and acid sprays, animal stunners
- Objects with a sharp point or edge — ice picks and axes, knives and scissors with blades over 6 cm, razor blades, box cutters, hatchets, cleavers, swords and sabres, martial arts equipment
- Workmen's tools — crowbars, drills and saws including cordless power tools, blowtorches, and any tool with a blade or shaft over 6 cm
- Blunt instruments — baseball and softball bats, clubs, batons and night sticks
- Explosives and incendiary substances — ammunition, blasting caps, detonators and fuses, replica or imitation explosive devices, mines and grenades, fireworks and pyrotechnics, smoke canisters, dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives
Prohibited in hold baggage
Under Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, Attachment 5-B: ammunition, blasting caps, detonators and fuses, mines, grenades and other military explosives, fireworks and pyrotechnics, dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives.
Missing or damaged baggage
If you notice damage to your baggage, or that items are missing, do not leave the baggage claim hall. Go to the “Lost or damaged baggage” counter on the first floor of the arrivals hall at Ashgabat International Airport and speak to the responsible employee, who will complete the necessary report and explain what happens next.
If you leave the baggage claim hall without a report, the decision on whether one can still be issued rests with an airline representative.
If your baggage arrives on a later flight, an employee of the Baggage Tracing Department will contact you with the delivery date and time.
