This policy explains what personal data the Open Joint Stock Company “Turkmenistan Airlines” collects through turkmenistanairlines.com, why we collect it, who we share it with and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who is responsible for your data
The controller of the data described here is the Open Joint Stock Company “Turkmenistan Airlines”, Ashgabat International Airport, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Questions about this policy, or a request to exercise your rights, can be sent to support@turkmenistanairlines.com.
What we collect
When you make a booking. The names, dates of birth and gender of the passengers, the travel document number, its country of issue and expiry date, nationality, the journey itself, and the telephone number and email address given as contact details. Where you tell us about a need for assistance, a medical condition or a dietary requirement, we collect that too.
When you pay. Payment is processed by our payment service provider, ECommPay. You enter your card details on their page — we do not receive or store the card number. We keep the amount, the currency, the outcome of the transaction and a payment reference.
When you create an account. Your name, email address and password, which is stored only as a cryptographic hash, together with the bookings connected to the account and any passenger details you choose to save for future bookings.
When you contact us. Whatever you send us — your name, contact details and the content of your message — so that we can answer.
When you use the website. Technical data collected automatically: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, and diagnostic information about errors, which is processed by our error-monitoring provider, Sentry.
Why we use it, and on what basis
We use personal data only where we have a lawful basis for doing so.
- To carry out the contract of carriage: issuing the ticket, checking you in, carrying you and your baggage, handling changes, claims and refunds, and contacting you about your flight.
- To comply with legal obligations: aviation security, customs, immigration and border requirements, including passing advance passenger information to state authorities where the law of a country on your itinerary requires it, and keeping accounting records.
- For our legitimate interests: keeping the website secure and working, preventing fraudulent bookings and payments, and improving our services — balanced against your interests.
- With your consent: non-essential cookies, and marketing messages where you have asked for them. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only where it is needed for your journey or required by law:
- Airports, ground handling agents and security services at the airports on your itinerary.
- Other airlines, where part of your journey is carried by them or your booking is transferred to them.
- The distribution and booking platform that processes reservations on our behalf, and our payment service provider ECommPay.
- State authorities — border, customs, aviation security and law enforcement — where the law requires it.
- Service providers who work for us under contract, such as hosting, email delivery and error monitoring, and who may use the data only on our instructions.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for someone else’s marketing.
Transfers to other countries
Because we fly internationally, data connected with your journey is sent to the countries on your itinerary and to the authorities and service providers there. The protection given to personal data differs between countries. Where the law requires it, we put appropriate safeguards in place for such transfers; where a state authority requires the data by law, we provide it.
How long we keep it
Booking and carriage records are kept for as long as needed to perform the contract and then for the period required by accounting, tax and aviation law. Account data is kept while the account exists. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter and any follow-up. Technical logs are kept for a short period for security and diagnostics.
Your rights
Subject to the law that applies to you, you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Delete data we no longer have a reason to keep.
- Restrict how we use it, or object to use based on our legitimate interests.
- Provide data you gave us in a portable form, or send it to another controller.
- Withdraw a consent you previously gave, without affecting what was done before.
Write to support@turkmenistanairlines.com. We may need to confirm your identity before we act, so that we do not disclose your data to someone else. Some data we must keep even after a request — for example records the law requires us to retain.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Cookies
Cookies are small files placed on your device when you visit the website. We use:
- Essential cookies, which make the site work — keeping your search, your booking session and your sign-in. The site cannot function without them.
- Preference cookies, which remember choices such as your language.
- Analytics and diagnostic cookies, which tell us how the site is used and where it fails.
When you first visit, we ask whether you accept cookies that are not essential. You can change your mind by clearing the cookies for this site in your browser and choosing again, and your browser settings let you block or delete cookies at any time. Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the site, including booking, from working.
Keeping data secure
Traffic to and from the website is encrypted in transit. Access to booking data is restricted to staff and providers who need it for their work, passwords are stored only as hashes, and card data is handled by our payment provider rather than by us. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we review our arrangements and act on problems we find.
Children
The website is not intended for children to use on their own. A booking for a child is made by an adult, who is responsible for the data they provide about that child.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last revised, and the version published here is the one that applies.
